In the last two decades (from 1994 to 2016) the cassava production in Ghana has tripled from 6 million tonnes in 1994 to about 18 million tonnes in 2017. Cassava accounted for 40% of the total agricultural products produced in the country (~40 million tonnes) in 2016 (FAOSTAT 2016).
There is up to £3 million of funding available from the Department for International Development (DFID) for early stage feasibility studies, mid stage industrial research and late stage experimental development. Projects must work on agri-tech and food chain innovations with partners in eligible African countries.
Universities and researchers can apply for a share of £2 million to work with researchers and businesses in Africa on solving challenges in food supply
